Ethnography Student Conference @CGU

For the last semester, I have been the teaching assistant for an ethnography class at CGU. In addition to co-facilitating the seminar, I have had the pleasure of advising students on their field research projects. From design to execution to reflection, these students have worked at sites all over Los Angeles. The projects really exude the university’s transdisciplinary focus, and this has positively kept me on my toes. Dr. Paul Faulstich’s course instruction has similarly taught me about  ethnography and working with graduate students. Between him and the students, I’ve learned so much.

This Wednesday’s conference celebrates the students’ hard work. Projects cover Occupy LA, the Tea Party, a Gay coffeehouse, an inner-city church, a Latter-Day Saint knitting group, and the Ifa-Orisha community activists. And students are working from various theoretical and methodological perspectives.

Oh, and did I mention that we’ll have treats from Some Crust Bakery?

If you’re interested in the program, just email me.

Till Next Time,
