Retooling for the 21st Century

So if you don’t know, there’s a Baby Newton on the way. We are excited and anxious. There’s so much to do before he gets here, but things are coming together smoothly. Because I want to be able to help him with his homework one day, I’ve been keeping a running list in my head of skills that I lack or need to dust off. I spent 2011 trying to get more handy- working on my scooter (which I gave away, BTW), finally doing some very small repair projects, and hanging out in Home Dept.

This year I hope to keep that going while I pick up some digital technology skills. I’ve already been playing around with CSS (coding stuff) here on the blog, and I’d like to figure out how to use S.’s digital camera. This may or may not translate into more frequent blog posts, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Speaking of “retooling,” preparation for my qualifying exams is moving along. I’m filling in a lot of wholes in my knowledge of Early Christianity. Lately I’ve been reading on gnosticism. I used to dread the idea of teaching this stuff, but now I actually look forward to it. Some of this ancient stuff would blow your mind.

Anyway, more on teaching stuff later.

Till Next Time
